*A carer is someone providing support to a family member or friend like their child, spouse, parent or sibling who is frail due to age or is living with disability, physical or mental health challenges.

As a family carer, I firmly endorse the Election Priorities set out by Carers WA for the upcoming 2025 WA State Election. I urge you to also show your support, helping to ensure that Carers in WA are recognised and valued in this Election.

What is a carer?

Carers are family members and friends who care for their loved ones with disability, chronic illness, mental health challenges, alcohol or other drug dependency, or who is frail due to age. In WA alone, there are in excess of 320,000 carers who sacrifice their employment and personal wellbeing to look after a family member. A carer is not someone who provides care as part of a work or volunteer contract, or as part of a course of study.

Election Priorities

In the lead up to the election, I wish to express my support for the following priorities (more information at www.carerswa.asn.au/carers-count):

- A New WA Carers Strategy
- The WA Carer Card Program
- Grants for WA Carers
- Increased Supports and Recognition for WA Carers
- Navigating the Maze of Services

You can ensure that Carers are valued in the WA State Election by:

- Meeting with Carers WA to discuss the above priorities further. Please email policy@carerswa.asn.au if you would like to arrange a suitable time.
- Responding by letter or email to policy@carerswa.asn.au on the priorities you will support at the upcoming Election.
- Spreading awareness of these priorities through your networks and electorate.

How we use the data you enter on this form

Do Gooder (the advocacy platform powering this online action) processes personal information from you that you enter on this form so that we can provide the functions and related services to you and The Campaigner (the organisation responsible for this online action) for their legitimate purposes, including possibly exporting it to other systems, and to effectively respond to enquiries and communications related to those services.

Specifically when you enter:

Your location data (residential address or postcode) it is used to locate your elected representative, to pre-populate your email signature and to provide The Campaigner with a visualisation of the location of the support for this campaign.
All other data you may enter, including your email address, name, telephone number, commentary and so on is used by The Campaigner to advocate for the campaign’s goals and where required may be sent to the target of the campaign.

The data collected by Do Gooder is also used by us in aggregate form to improve the service and may be held on your behalf outside your country of residence by our third party service providers. These providers are bound by contract to only use personal information on our behalf, in accordance with agreed terms. While the privacy laws of the country in which personal information is stored or transferred may be different from those in your country, we will always have safeguards in place when storing or transferring personal information. We will never sell, rent, loan or in any other way pass your information on to other parties other than to provide this service to you and The Campaigner.
